Step 2 – Your Wish List
As I am a person who like to list out tasks, I now alter my list to be a reality list. I will just be listing out all the things that I want and the associated feelings of having it.
It is that simple but not easy. Many will not even do this basic step as they don’t believe it. With that, the best is to go back to Step 1 and unlearn all again before proceeding this step. Don’t even attempt to do Step 2 halfheartedly. By the time you proceed with this step, you would have already unlearn and let go all the previous beliefs, experience, work ethics, approach to life, worries, concerns, etc, etc. Start on a clean slate and renew your life.
The KEY thing about your Reality List is to write in the present tense, as if you already have it. This whole process is an affirmation and it is important to visualize and live in that as if you already have it. Hence, you should take a step further to express your emotions related to the each of the items you want. In essence, it’s like, if I may put it, living in a dream with a very strong emotions about living in that dream.
You will know truly that you have passed the Step 1 is that when you put your reality list in Step 2, if you begin to feel as if you are lying to yourself, this is what I call you are resisting it. It’s like, “Thanks to your disbelief, your reality can’t be fulfilled.”
So remember that as your set your reality list, LIVE IN YOUR REALITY.
I have already created my own REALITY and as the days and moments passed me by, I am already feeling the REALITY I am creating. It’s great to be able to create your life.
Step 1 – Unlearning What You Have Learned
While looking back the past 5 years since I left the corporate life, I recall spending the first few months feeling a little lost. Lost because my familiarity of going through Monday blues, keeping tab of schedules and deadlines, attending conference calls with my US counterparts and sticking to my one hour lunch break was all gone.
I felt uncomfortable because the many years of living engraved the blueprint on how one’s life is about: Study hard and make it to college, find a good job and work hard at it, etc, etc.
I thought I was becoming a bum, lazing around, taking long lunches and occasionally, feeling guilty as I didn’t seem to be productive in any way. Of course, in the most measurable way, I was not contributing to the GDP!
And soon, my dream started. And in order to do that, I had to unlearn what I have been taught in the past, discard whatever beliefs that have been planted in my head and to really start anew – I felt like I was a recycled human being and I loved every minute of it. I was open to more opportunities and was able to see more things with much clarity.
Just like what Albert Einstein said,”The only thing that interferes with my learning is my education.”
I stress again…the keyword is FOCUS on WHAT YOU WANT!
If visual is what works best for you, keep pictures that symbolize what you want and keep looking at it. If you want it to be specific, start making a list. Whatever approach you use, just FOCUS on WHAT YOU WANT!
OKP
OKP is a Singapore home-grown infrastructure and civil engineering company, specializing in the construction of airport runways and taxiways, expressways, flyovers, vehicular bridges, urban and arterial roads.
OKP has two core business segments, Civil & Building Construction and Road Maintenance. The Group tenders for both public and private civil engineering and infrastructure construction projects.
This company pays around 5% of dividend and with the list of projects OKP has been awarded, this company holds a very good potential growth in the next few years. The latest award was the $46.8M to improve Alexandra Canal. This project is expected to be completed in 2014.
Looking at the OKP financial ratios, I found it to be a good company to invest in. Currently it is trading at an attractive $0.53, this is an excellent entry price for a company that has many projects waiting for it’s completion. I found the GP Margin and NP Margin attractive as well and that the current ratio to be extremely high at 1.53 at Full Year 2010.
Let’s see how this stock goes in the years to come.
What is Wealth?
Most people think of wealth as having alot of money. To me, although the money part is the practical aspects of buying stuff, what true WEALTH to me is actually leading the kind of life you really want that brings out the most joy to you.
The real wealth could be something that is as simple as having the time to just laze at the beach for days and not having any worry about the practical aspects of life. In short, wealth is basically being able to live the life of your dreams, and that is basically the type of wealth I am pursuing. Basically, to set myself truly FREE and truly experience life as itself without being bothered about the practical aspects of the “monetary wealth”.
Some might say “silly thought”, but that’s precisely my belief. And through adopting my belief system, www.makingthemillions.com will continue to document, inspire and share the journey on how changing your belief system, no matter how silly it might be, will indeed change your life.
The very first step I took on this journey was to drop everything I have learned or have been taught. I didn’t want to restrict myself to apply all logical assessment on how things work and I just forgot what others tell me about…”If you want a successful life, you have to work extremely hard, climb up the corporate ladder and be a high flyer”, etc.
I have basically unlearned all to have a clean and clear mind. So now, I am at ground zero all over regarding my past experiences, past beliefs, past resistances, and start opening up to new things, new experiences and explore ideas and opportunities presented before me. I am embracing things that I truly enjoy and immerse myself into it fully. And that, to me, is true wealth.
I urge those who have aspirations, passion, dreams and ideas to follow their heart. I truly believe what your heart desires is truly the foundation of what you really want from life. It is only in you that you truly know what you really want to be. External factors will just make you a living dead and not knowing where you are heading in life. In short, that is misery.
Inspiration Drawn – Steve Jobs
While writing this post, I am in the midst of reading the latest book on Steve Jobs, his biography by Walter Isaacson.
This man inspired me since 2008 after I got my hands on my iPhone 3GS. I’d never liked touch screen phones but after using the iPhone, it just changed everything. There are many reviews on Android vs OS and yes, there is a possibility that Android might be more superior in their own ways. I can’t really comment as I have never touched any Android phone. But looking at the iPhone makes me feel that is indeed something that works great for me and yet I never knew.
He was right, he didn’t need to know what his customers want, he created products that customers didn’t know they actually want. And that I why I think he does have a very strong vision.
He inspired me in many ways. And if you have watched his commencement speech at Stanford in 2005 (I am sure you have), I particularly like the part when he talked about connecting the dots, as I find it so true.
I am excited about how the connecting of dots will do for me in the future and I look forward to seeing the link. However, at this moment, I do see how the things I have done or not done come together in bringing what I am doing and about to do. So, Steve Jobs’ theory of connecting the dots, or his belief about the “dots”, may actually exist!
Nothing spiritual or religious in this post, it’s just an observation about life and how it may actually be very true.
Although it is of great loss that Steve Jobs has left this world, but his departure may just have another level of impact to many in the way we think, approach life and live, something beyond just Apple.
